M & T Do Lunch

When Lara shared with me that she was pregnant, I was so excited because I too was expecting and to be pregnant at the same time with her would make watching my expanding tummy all the more exciting. When we discovered that she was having a boy and that I was having a girl, it was bit funny because I had assumed that I was pregnant with a boy and Lara a girl. So much for thinking I could predict anything about Maggie from the get-go, right?

Throughout our pregnancies Lara and I talked frequently about what the future would hold for us as mothers and having children that were so close in age, neither one of us having any idea that our lives would never be the same after our babes arrived. After Maggie was born, Lara and Marc were among the first of our friends to stop by and hold The Little Miss and a few weeks later after Thomas had made his arrival, we did the same.

I had assumed that Mags and Thomas would become friends and develop a lasting friendship; however, what I didn’t take into account was the fact that they would really, really like one another or that they’d be so darn cute together. Last week we met up at my grandparent’s house to have lunch with them and let the two toddlers do a bit of toddling around their back yard. Lunch was delicious Crab Louies and we got to eat outside under their nice covered area.

Maggie sat on a stack of phone books while Thomas enjoyed being strapped into the highchair that they keep there for when we visit. Both Thomas and Maggie enjoyed their noodle lunch and especially the cookies for dessert. More than once The Thomas and Maggie Show had us in stitches, sharing food, bobbling heads and signing for more food.  Not only did we get to eat a yummy crab lunch outside and wander the yard, but we also got to witness a Thomas and Maggie dance party in the living room. Both love to dance and both have different dance moves, but they’re both mover and shakers!

So, lasting friendships…they’re important in life. Everybody should have a friend they can call at any given time, a friend that makes them laugh, a friend that carries them through the storms of life and makes sure you’ve got sunscreen on for those bright, sunny days. Who knows if Mags and Thomas will have a lasting friendship, but based on how they treat each other now, I’m willing to bet this is a friendship that will last a while.

Seriously, I met Lara in 3rd grade and she’s considered a ‘new’ friend in our circle of girls, so they’ve got a jump start on the whole life-long friend thing.

Water Dishes & Climbing Walls

Happy Monday!! We had a Girls Only Weekend because Barry went on his annual Men’s Hike with some friends. I stayed home with Maggie and Sydney and made sure that the blueberries still taste good this close to September. They do, yummy! Sydney and Maggie solidified their friendship even more over the weekend after Maggie discovered what a joy it is to have Syd do some tricks in trade for a nibble on a treat.

That said, Maggie has also fallen in love with the idea that she has the power to get Syd to shake a paw and stay in one place and sometimes fails to dole out the treat in a reasonable amount of time. I guess you could say we’re working on sharing already. Sydney is so patient with Maggie’s shenanigans, even letting Maggie dump water on her from the Sandy Lagoon!

Along with the new treat fascination came more interest in Sydney’s water and food dishes. Remember this? Well, the love-fest with Sydney’s water dish was not short lived. This weekend brought a whole new level with Maggie walking around with the dish trying to deliver the water directly to the, apparently, thirsty Pug. Sadly, after this happened one too many times, the water dish broke and is now replaced with one that isn’t so easy to lift.

I’d almost rather have Maggie be walking around the house with Syd’s water dish because this appears to be the other option:
