The San Diego Post

I really, really wanted our trip to San Diego to be one that we came home talking about what a good time we had, how cool San Diego was and feeling ready to welcome Summer in the PNW. As much as I hate to admit it, San Diego just wasn’t anything except blah. Maggie and I both got sick and we learned that June Gloom (as the local SD residents call it) means that cover-ups are necessary. After a few nights of nursing fevers, both mine and Maggie’s, we were all but ready to just be home. And I LOVE vacation, so just wanting to be home speaks volumes for how gross we felt. The pictures we got, however, make it seem like we were busy bees and did tons of fun stuff, which we did…but there was puke, fevers and a general low-energy feeling. How’s that for negative? If you ignore this paragraph and the photo with SD by the numbers, you can imagine a fun-filled week instead.

The Very Best

I’ve never hidden the fact that I adore Barry. He’s patient, kind, funny, handsome, and is my very best friend. But the level of adoration that I have for my husband, is surpassed by how much Maggie loves her papa. They’re like two little peas in a pod: laughing together at silly things, doing belly flops on beds, dancing when their food tastes good, hugging, blowing kisses and just leaving a trail of cute-ness wherever they go. See what I mean?

Dude. We’re Back.

Yo.

I know, I know.

Last night Barry informed me that I haven’t blogged since the 5th of June. I don’t think I realized that it’d been that long and there really hasn’t been much to write about.

We went to San Diego for a week. It was the vacation that wasn’t.

Because Maggie and I got sick and this is what we pretty much looked like for the week we were gone:

Being sick on vacation isn’t cool, but having your child be sick on vacation should be in the “Worst Case Scenario” book.

We’re still getting over it – coughing, blowing noses, etc.

Being sick in June should be illegal.

It probably is in some states.

For the few hours it was sunny this weekend, we did this:

We’re getting ready to kick it back in to regular gear.

Just let us blow our noses a few more times and we’ll be ready to go.

Have you heard avocado facials help?

Because Maggie seems to think they do.
