4th of July @ Nana and Grandpa’s

On the 4th of July we headed up to spend the day with Barry’s side of the family. Greg and Linda arranged for both sets of Barry’s grandparents to be there, along with a couple of his uncles, so it was a very nice family gathering. Maggie had the best of times playing dollies with all the different adults and Audrey enjoyed teething and getting held. Barry’s dad is in the process of rebuilding Barry’s old Chevy Nova and we were able to take it out for a couple long drives.  It was quite fun….especially since the car is GOLD!!! Thanks to everyone that helped set up the family pictures and aren’t we all glad that New Baby made it in them!

Sarah, Darwin & Family

My friend Sarah asked me to take some family photos for her a couple weeks ago and I have finally sat down to take a look at what I got, and I’m smitten. Sarah and her husband, Darwin, with their two darling sons came to Edmonds for an evening. Darwin’s mom, sister and sister’s son came as well, which made for a made for a fun time getting different groups together. I loved taking pictures of this family because everybody was so happy, photogenic and willing to try a few different things. Enjoy the pictures!

Living with a 3 Year Old That Loves Fancy Nancy

maggie mae-3

I thought maybe we’d passed our Fancy Nancy stage, but today she called me Bree for most of the day and kept insisting that she is Fancy Nancy. I went along with it and we had some pretty elaborate conversations. It wasn’t until I came across her brushing her hair in front of the mirror  with Audrey’s baby brush that I laughed out loud.

When she saw that I was watching her, she told me that she’d found her ‘fashion brush’ and continued to brush away. And as she talked her hair became one huge poof.

When we were in the car a couple hours later, she had to say it two times until I responded…I just wasn’t used to being called “Bree” yet.

“Umm….Bree, do you know where my beautiful fashion brush is?”

“Uhh, No, Fancy Nancy, I don’t. Last time I saw your ‘beautiful fashion brush’ you were brushing your hair in the hallway.”

“Okay, Bree. It is such a beautiful fashion brush, isn’t it?”

**She told me how the brush is ‘decorated’ and I didn’t have a heart to tell her that the ‘big red T’ is actually a symbol for the American Red Cross.

***She also insists that we call Sydney “Frenchy” and Audrey is “JoJo”

****Barry is my mom and if we ever leave the house Maggie – I mean Fancy Nancy – likes to act like any car we see is driven by ‘my mom’.
