Temptation

I have a huge, grey sweat shirt that I wear to work on Fridays.

It is a very comfortable sweatshirt and it is very huge.

Barry says that I look like  a grey ball in it because it is huge and fits weird.

I wore it last Friday and didn’t put it away.

I found Barry squeezed into it on Saturday morning.

I had nothing to do with it, he just couldn’t resist it.

The temptation of the sweatshirt was too much for him.

He didn’t look like a grey ball. Not at all.

Getting it off was another story.

Abundance

apple

Our kitchen is brimming with apples and tomatoes that we are working to use before they go bad or not tiring of the taste. A number of months ago my Grandpa Elvrum gifted us with some tomato plants and we dutifully followed his directions of direct sunlight and lots of water.

No we are in the midst of reaping the rewards and contemplating everything tomato.

This past weekend we went up to Blaine/Birch Bay/Bellingham/Anacortes for a wedding (Yay! Rayna & Jon) and were gifted with a ton of apples. Barry’s Uncle Bill has a tree in his yard that makes the largest most tasty apples. Each year we collect from this tree and love what it provides; however, this year we also benefited from my parent’s orchard!

So, if you have good apple or tomato recipes, send them our way.

Please, though, we’re not interested in combining the two.

Izak, my little brother who isn’t so little anymore, has been off on another sailing tip with his friends. Last time he came home I happened to be at my parents house while he shared with our grandma the course of his travels. She and Grandpa spent days upon days charting their boating trips and Izak is the only grandchild that has developed sea legs, so to speak.

He’s on a trip now in Canadian waters and I’m the lucky family member to recieve text messages from him reporting on his progress and safety. They are far and few betweeen, but give me a little tidbit of information to grab onto.

This is his latest text:

Welp, we made it to our turnaround, Jedediah Is., and everything is humming along nicely. Back south thru the Gulf Is. and home in 5-6 days. So, FYI, I’m safe.

I am excited for him to come home so we can hear about his latest adventure and see how he’s tracked it using his charts.
