Beware Squirrels, Beware!

Izak came over today to visit and ended up taking Sydney up to Camp Janet for a few days. It is really quiet around here now. I’m certain that Barry missed having her shadow his every move when he got home from work.

Maggie fell asleep and were able to have dinner without her barking or bullying us for a treat, strange not to be interrupted. We also went and walked around downtown Edmonds. It felt different to be a trio without the sniffing Pug.

What was really shocking, however, was that we noticed a squirrel on our back stoop drinking directly from Sydney’s water dish that we keep outside. Suddenly things became more clear in regards to Sydney’s barking fits that seem to strike at random times. Apparently she really has a reason to bark after all.

I’ve held a grudge against those dang squirrels since they ate all our tulips and cleaned out our front planter boxes, so at least Syd and I have something in common now.

We Like it That Way

At first when Josh sent us these pictures I had a moment where I wished that we would have been dressed in something other than stripes, plaid and an orange jumper. But then I reminded myself that we’d look somewhat ridiculous in a matchy-matchy get up because we aren’t really like that anyhow.

We’re a stripes and plaid family through and through and there isn’t much purpose trying to act like otherwise. Plus, what really matters is that we’ve got these pictures to capture our life right now and look how happy we are. The only thing missing is a lazy Pug named Sydney.

Plus, this is exactly what Maggie looks like when she is super pumped up about something and letting out a high-pitched squeal. Look at her face – she is happy as a tiny clam. Well, a clam that is still in the 90th percentile for height and weight.

See, she doesn’t care if we’re wearing matching outfits or even matching patterns. She just cares that we’ve got index fingers to hold on to and smiles to match with her loud squeals.

Next time that we have Josh take our pictures – and there will be many, many more times – I’m going to remember how much I love these photos, because it isn’t the stripes, plaid and orange that makes us smile, being together is enough for us.

Plus, black and white is always an option!

Happy Halloween, Don’t Be Scared!

This morning my parents (happy anniversary – yay!)  stopped by on their way out of town to get some Maggie squeezes in and dropped off the largest zucchini in the universe. Maggie put on her first costume of the day and we measured her next to the zucch.

Kind of funny. We’ll be passing it on to Izak this week so he can make come tasty chocolate zucchini bread. Yummers!

Then, on our way to Trick or Treat at 3G’s house, we ran into Thomas and his parents. He was dressed as a bumble bee and SUPER cute. Maggie tried to eat him, which was also super cute.

Finally we went and played a few tricks at Great Grandma and Grandpa’s house…one of the tricks was to fall asleep before we were out of the driveway.
