3G & Great Grandpa

While we were visiting my grandparents today (3G and Great Grandpa) I took a series of photos that I really love. It absolutley, without a doubt, captures Maggie with my grandparents in the most perfect way.

My grandpa loves Maggie so much that when we pull into their driveway, he greets our car and snatches Maggie into his arms with a huge hug and a smile. Sometimes he remembers to say hello to me…

In no way am I suggesting that he loves Maggie any more than my grandma, but my grandpa shows his affection for the sweet, sweet Mags in such an unguarded way and it is hard to ignore. After these pictures were taken he proceeded to get down on the ground with her and roll around with some toys. He’s 81 and I’m fairly certain that there aren’t many 81 year olds out there willing to roll around on the floor.

Seeing these pictures remind me that I need to take more pictures of Maggie with all of her grandparents, she has ten of them!! TEN!! Six great grandparents and four grandparents!! And they all love her so!

Walk-N-Talk

Before we had Maggie we would take Syd for an early morning and evening walk, but things got switched around once Maggie showed up on the scene and the poor pug has been missing out on her double-a-day walks. We’ve  recently gotten back into the swing of things, it only took us 9 months.

On the days that it isn’t raining Maggie, Syd and I walk with Barry to work and it is a great way to start our day together. However, when the time comes to leave Barry at work, Sydney is always a bit confused and depressed. She’ll sit down and look mournfully at Barry as he trudges to work. Sadly, I think it’s a bit funny to see that she’s so concerned about Barry going a different direction.

We’ve also reinstated the evening stroll and I think I may have forgotten how much I love this time with my husband. Sometimes we spend our time talking about details of the day, other times we talk only of our daughter or our silly dog. But bit by bit the conversation unravels itself until we’ve either found ourselves back home or back to our car with chilly hands, a happy Pug and a baby anxious to get her own evening “walk” in.

Does This Make Me Crafty?

Never have I thought of myself as crafty, but yesterday it occurred to me that perhaps I’ve got a little craft in me! I lined the back of a shelf in Maggie’s room with wrapping paper and Mod Podge. I didn’t document it from start to finish because I wasn’t going to share with all 9 of our blog readers, but I’m pleased with the end result. Lucky you, right?

Barry ended up taking a few pictures ~ we’re working with him to learn how to focus manually….be patient with the man! We got the shelf free last year from my aunt (thanks, Sue!) and it has floated around between our guest room and Maggie’s room. I’m not a huge fan of things that are just plain, old white. If I had my way, everything would be beautiful, solid wood or enhanced with color.

Every time I’ve looked at this shelf it has bothered me, but I’ve never pulled the trigger on sprucing it up. The shelf is inside Maggie’s closet and NOBODY looks twice at it, but when I’m feeding Maggie and the closet is left open, which happens often, I’m stuck looking at this shelf. So, after pulling the backs off, mod podging (is that a word?) the wrapping paper on, and putting the backs on, I had myself something that I actually like to look at.

Just today as I sat down to nurse, I looked over at the left-open closet and new-fangled shelf and found myself pleased. Granted, it’s just a little bit of color, and it’s just wrapping paper….but, dang, it’s the little things that make me happy these days.
