We’re Here….

When we bought our house a few years ago we felt like it needed a name and Joe suggested HBHQ and it seemed to stick. Jump a few years later and to this Christmas when my dad gifted us with a huge, heavy HBHQ sign that he made. (Flipper traditionally likes to give gifts that are nearly impossible to lift and fit through a doorway. When he ‘wrapped it,’ we just opened a small bead and he had to go outside to ‘get the rest of the gift.”)  I’m sure some would smirk at having a nameplate so prominent, but I love it! We were headed out for a walk last weekend and decided to get some pictures of Maggie with the sign….

and before we knew it she had fallen down and nearly rolling down the hill. Of course she was fine, but looking at the series of pictures made us laugh so hard….she went from standing and happy to flat on her back, stunned, in seconds. After her tumble, she got right back up again and was all smiles.

In any case, if you decide that you want to come visit us, and we like visitors, we’re the house with a huge, heavy HBHQ sign and possibly a baby rolling down the hill.

See you soon?

And the Dish Ran Away with the Spoon…

Maggie is discovering new things every single moment of every single day and she celebrates each discovery by touching it with her hands, tasting it with her tongue and seeing if it moves.

The other day we were content to let her “discover” the dishwasher, mostly because we were thankful that Sydney’s food wasn’t getting destroyed. The pure glee that Maggie showed with the dishwasher was hilarious. I don’t share the same level of enthusiasm.

Personally, I don’t really love our dishwasher and  don’t think about it much beyond loading it and emptying it when necessary.

Loading and unloading, along with every other mundane task, has taken on a new meaning with such an active baby in tow.

She certainly isn’t ready for her own list of chores, but I’m beginning to think that she’ll be a very helpful pipsqueak to have along for the ride of ‘keeping house.’

As long as what we’re doing is safe….because if we’re not safe, someone might get hurt. Mmm-kay?

Brush, Brush, Brush

I brush my teeth many times throughout my day and we’ve started to get Maggie busy brushing hers. Part of our morning routine involves Maggie sitting on the bathroom counter while we get ready.

We have conversations about what our plans for the day are and what we might have dreamed about. She usually gets to watch Barry shave and they have their own private conversation about father-daughter things

Based on the crazy, crazy bed-head that Maggie has been waking up with, we’re not too far off from having to brush her hair too.  Sadly, the bed-head is not pictured in this post. I’m saving that for another rainy day.

Brush, brush, brush!!!
